HERE is a link to the radio show Sarah was on this afternoon with two of the other three members of Black Sea Hotel - WFMU's the Irene Trudel show. Take a look at the playlist of songs the group sung as a trio (unfortunately missing their 4th member, Joy). Village-Style coming your way!

In the meantime, in case you missed it (Ha!-- of course you missed in, unless you were tuned into XM Radio on Halloween Night), here is a link to download our Live Radio show from Halloween on XM (http://www.xmradio.com/). Bill Kates was our host and he was so much fun to sing with and talk to.

Hope you enjoy: http://www.sarahsmall.com/guest/BlackSeaHotel_XMRadioShow.zip

Yasna Voices will be singing at a small community garden in Brooklyn today, Saturday. We will open our 7pm set with some wild Nordic Herding calls and will sing lots of songs for about an hour after that. Refreshments and Candlelight included. Please join us in a few hours right off the Clinton-Washington stop of the G train, right near-by Pratt University. No Bulgarian get-up this time. Instead we will be performing in colorful summer dresses to match all the colors in the flowery garden. Hope to see you there.

Irresponsible me for not letting you know much much sooner, but I figure better late than not at all. Yasna Voices (the Bulgarian Woman's choir I sing with, just to specify in case you are new to this list) will be singing 3 pieces in collaboration with our leader's live puppet troupe. And there are jugglers and trapeze-ing people and a neat cabaret-ish band and more. You can purchase tickets online at www.bricstudio.org. Maybe I'll see someone. A last minute surprise.

Here's the reminder I promised...

My choir, Yasna Voices, is singing in collaboration with Asuli, another small Brooklyn-based Women's Vocal Ensemble, at BAMcafe this Saturday night, March 13th at 9:30pm. I am oh so excited about all this and you will be too if you enjoy harmony as much as we do! Please join us for the beginning of your Saturday evening! And come say hi afterwards.

February 21, 2004

A performance of Yasna Voices mixed with a second choir Asuli to make us, for one night, about 20 voices, performing at BAMcafé, Brooklyn next month. We are learning each others music and very excited about it!

Tonight I am performing with my Bulgarian Choir, Yasna Voices. We are one of nine vocal ensembles competing in the Harmony Sweepstakes A Cappella Festival. It will be held at Symphony Space (tonight sat. the 21st) at 8pm. It is at 2537 Broadway, at 95th street. Tickets are $21. (also we have a brief write up on the front cover of the Weekend Section of the Daily News- check it out!)

Tomorrow (Sat the 24th) I am performing again in my Bulgarian choir Yasna Voices in case you missed the one last weekend at the international festival. It should be really fun. We will perform only one song and there will also be other great performances, dancing etc...

This annual Festival draws large crowds in appreciation of World music performances, yummy international food stands and many other festivities in the thriving neighborhood.  On our stage "Bosilek" Ensemble will make you wanna dance to those crazy odd meters ~bring your shoes!

We are so excited to back up the beloved soloist of the Bulgarian Women's Choir for two performances!  Yanka will sing some of her favorite songs accompanied by the fantastic Ivan Milev on accordion and "Yasna Voices" will present tunes of Bulgarian diaphonic close interval singing.
